House of Calexico mission to follow God's calling to love one another
to bring together individuals and resources, to provide leadership,
to advocate for community betterment, meet the needs of the less fortunate,
and give voice to individuals who would otherwise remain invisible
and silent.
History:
Neighborhood
House of Calexico, Inc is a private 501 © 3 private non-profit
agency related to the General Board of Global Ministries of the United
Methodist Church. It provides a comprehensive array of direct services;
day care for working parents; emergency shelter for women and children;
emergency food and form assistance; youth and adult employment training,
micro business loans; English classes.
Neighborhood
House was established in response to the need of women and children
in a community with high unemployment, low educational level and
large immigrant population. It is the vision of Calexico Neighborhood
House to assist families in the community to become self sufficient
community leaders.
Neighborhood
House was established in 1938 as a settlement house to assist and
work with the residents of the border community, and receives financial
support from individual donations, foundations, the United Methodist
Church and government agencies.
